TOM THE BOMB’S BLOG
Tonight’s event was great! My ministry, f2fmi, and the youth leaders of our region, publicly issued a challenge to the teens of Southeastern Connecticut. Teens pledged to pray and invite their friends to this fall’s 5th annual Overtime event. This could be our biggest year yet.
Andy Needham, formerly of Arise joined us this evening to lead us in worship and direct our focus. The main thrust was to encourage teens to come up, share stories, pray and get involved. And that definitely happened! We heard conversion stories, prayers for friends, and united voices singing in one accord.
There were 97 there, including the band. Was I disappointed with the attendance? Not in the least! I know some of the youth leaders wished more of their teens came, but I was hoping for a group not too big for intimacy’s sake, and not too small to feel like there’s an empty room. It was just right. If each one of these teens brought 5 friends, there will be an additional 280 teens at Overtime ’09 this year!
The 5 Friend Challenge Overtime Pre-Event was a huge success. I am grateful to the leaders of SE CT Youth Leaders Network, the f2fmi team, Groton Bible Chapel and Andy Needham for making the evening a huge success.
